Looking for the best pub in Reading? Look no further – the Abbot Cook has just opened its doors. With 22 speciality draught beers and ciders, 5 cask ales, and a fresh, seasonal food menu with regularly changing daily specials, we think we give most of the restaurants in Reading a run for their money!
We‘re really proud of our seasonal food menu. We have proper pub classics such as Cumberland sausages and mash, beef brisket cottage pie, line caught beer battered fish and chips, and handmade beef burger with vintage cheddar and smoked bacon.
Some of our other favourites so far are the potted pulled pork, the slow cooked lamb shoulder and the Cornish brie tart. Daily specials might include dishes such as smoked haddock, pea and spinach risotto, British Rose Veal, roasted cous cous and halloumi salad, Yorkshire venison or Speyside rib of beef.
We’ve been careful with our sourcing, seeking out Hampshire breed outdoor reared pork sausages, Cotswold lamb rump, West Country 21-day aged steak and Norfolk outdoor reared pork for our pork loin chop to name but a few.
On Sundays we’ll be offering freshly carved roasts with all the trimmings: Sirloin of West Country beef, leg of Cotswold lamb and loin of Norfolk with home cooked Yorkshire puddings!
Food served Monday-Saturday 12 noon-10.00pm and Sunday 12 noon-9.30pm
