    Description
The Ship Inn is somewhat of an undiscovered gem. If you're heading to Barrow-in-Furness by train, alight one stop early, at Flass Lane, Roose, and have a bite to eat at The Ship Inn!

I can highly recommend the Ship Inn. We went a few weeks ago and I asked the bar maid when they were going to put my favourite cheese and leek potato bake back on the menu and she said she would ask the owner (who is also the chef). She came back a couple of minutes later and said he was doing one especially for me! Some people have said the service is slow but we find it ok. The wine comes in little bottles which I don't like - hubby likes the steak. The chef doesn't change the veg much - generally carrots and cabbage. Good sized portions and salads are huge.

I took some old friends for a 'reunion' meal and we were all treated to an excellent selection of food topped off with very pleasant and modern surroundings. The chef and landlady have recently moved from the Queen's Arms at Biggar Village and brought with them their extensive range first class menu and maintained their reputation for high quality food at reasonable prices. The entire pub was busy but this did not cause any problems in the eating area and the selection of beers from the bar was as good as anywhere else in the area. It is advisable to make a reservation as it gets busy on a regular basis but it is well worth a visit and I'm sure you wont be disappointed.
