Nestling down in the beautiful Gilpin Valley, just minutes from the shores of Lake Windermere, yet feeling like a lifetime away from the hustle and bustle of the popular heart of the Lakes villages of Bowness and Windermere, The Wild Boar offers an altogether different experience.
The Wild Boar Inn, Grill & Smokehouse (previously known as The Famous Wild Boar Inn), is owned and managed by the family run group English Lakes Hotels.
Being the first restaurant in the Lake District to boast its own smokehouse, Head Chef Marc Saunders has had the opportunity to design a completely new menu.
We fell upon this lovely Pub in a beautiful country setting. Bar
meals were being served in the Pub Garden although full lunch was only in the Dining room. We chose Soup and a sandwich for £6.50. The soup was clear chicken and very, very good. The sandwich (Beef) came with salad and crisps, the beef was very tender. There was a choice of Brown and
White bread, and thick pieces of brown and white bread were served with the soup. This is an excellent place to go for a light lunch and the full Sunday lunch menu at £14.95 looked very interesting also. We can highly recommend a visit to The Famous Wild Boar Hotel.
