We visited on a Sunday afternoon with a large party. The service was very slow, there was only one veggie meal on the menu (veg and brie tart). Two of the party ordered it but it was very poor, it was the size of a small starter and was totally flavourless yet it cost £10! We very politely took this up with the manager. Whilst we were there a couple left after waiting 30 mins to be served!

what a surprise to see the complaint below!! We too had fish and chips on Saturday and paid £10.95, so she obviously took our complaints on board! to be fair our fish was good, but we were all hungry afterwards. The land lady informed us when we complained that the market price of the fish meant that the portions were that size - sorry, not our problem, don't put it on the menu if it can't be done properly. To top it off, was accused of being drunk when complained (I'd had 3/4 of a pint with my "meal") and was asked not to come back - no danger of that Don't bother

Cod & chips chosen, there were 3 portions left. We waited for 45 minutes after ordering the meal before it was served. the chips were greasy, the mushy peas were totally tasteless and the fish was almost non-existent ( both tail end portions ought to have been thrown to the cat arther than served to customers) Sorry, very poor, and at £9.95 each a total rip-off!

We called into the Ship Inn for some lunch, on a beautiful day, & decided to dine outside. The views of the South Lakes were very nice. There were four of us, all trying different dishes. lasagne, fish pie, steak pie, & prawn salad. We all commented on how nice the food was. The service was good & beer was on form on this beautiful sunny day.

This pub is located on the Kent estuary before it flows into Morecambe Bay. It has beautiful views north across the estuary towards the Like District fells. For warm evenings they have tables outside with fantastic views over the estuary. This is our local eating-place when we are too lazy to cook ourselves. They have a pretty large menu, which should cater for most tastes, including vegetarians. They have dedicated kitchen staff, including a chef, so you can expect well cooked and turned out meals. Well worth a try!
